ACMT Forum Code of Conduct
Welcome to the American College of Medical Toxicology Forum, a dedicated space for professionals to engage in insightful and collaborative discussions. Our primary objective is to foster an inclusive environment that thrives on the principles of respect, understanding, and professional growth. We are committed to eradicating all forms of discrimination, prejudice, and bias from our interactions, ensuring that diverse perspectives and experiences are not only valued but celebrated. Through the exchange of views and knowledge, we aim to propel our collective understanding and advance the field of medical toxicology. As active Forum participants, we uphold the highest standards of respect, thereby cultivating a community where every voice is heard and genuine discourse flourishes.
All Forum participants will be required to adhere to the following Code of Conduct.
1. Respectful and Inclusive Discourse:
- Treat all community members with respect, regardless of their background, experience, or perspective.
- Avoid offensive language, personal attacks, and discriminatory remarks.
- Engage in thoughtful discussions that contribute to the advancement of the medical toxicology profession.
- Be mindful and respectful of linguistic background – while the language for online forum discussions is mostly English (unless otherwise specified), remember not everybody is a native English speaker/writer.
2. Quality Contributions:
- Contribute substantive and relevant content that adds value to the discussions.
- Provide well-reasoned viewpoints and share evidence-based information when possible.
- Cite sources and references to support your claims and statements.
- Respect legitimate intellectual property rights, do not plagiarize work, and give credit to the originators of ideas.
- Use caution when discussing products. Information posted on the lists and in the libraries is available for all members to see. Comments are subject to libel, slander, and antitrust laws.
- Please carefully read the items listed in the disclaimer and legal rules below, particularly regarding the copyright ownership of information posted.
- The Forum is not intended to be a place for the exchange of any information or data that would be regulated by the federal Health Insurance and Portability Act of 1996 and its implementing regulations (HIPAA). Do not post any Protected Health Information, as that term is defined in HIPAA, to the Forum. ACMT shall not be liable for any use or disclosure of Protected Health Information in violation of HIPAA through the Forum, including, but not limited to, the transmission of Protected Health Information to an unintended recipient.
3. Professional Conduct:
- Maintain a professional tone and demeanor in all interactions.
- Refrain from self-promotion, spamming, or advertising unrelated content.
- Do not share confidential patient information or violate patient privacy.
4. Informed Discussions:
- Stay on topic and keep discussions relevant to medical toxicology and related fields.
- Engage in open-minded debates, considering diverse viewpoints and experiences.
5. Prohibited Content:
- Discriminatory, hostile or intimidating messages or language will not be tolerated, whether based on a person’s race, ethnicity, culture, national origin, social or economic class, educational level, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity and expression, age, size, family status, political belief, religion, or mental or physical ability.
- Do not post offensive, defamatory, abusive, threatening, or hateful content.
- Avoid sharing misleading or false information.
- Refrain from sharing explicit, graphic, or disturbing images or text.
6. Privacy and Consent:
- Respect the privacy of individuals and institutions; do not share personal information without consent.
- Obtain appropriate permissions before sharing copyrighted material.
7. Moderation Decisions:
- Moderators reserve the right to edit, remove, or relocate content that violates the code of conduct.
- Content that violates the code of conduct may be subject to removal without notice.
- Repeat or severe violations may result in temporary or permanent bans from the community.
8. Reporting Violations:
- If you come across content that violates the code of conduct, report it to the moderators using the designated reporting mechanisms.
9. Constructive Feedback:
- Provide feedback and suggestions to improve the forum's quality and functionality.
- Engage in discussions about forum improvements in a respectful manner.
10. Compliance with Terms of Service:
- Adhere to the forum's terms of service and guidelines.
- Failure to comply may result in loss of access to the forum.

By posting material, the posting party warrants and represents that they own the copyright with respect to such material or has received permission from the copyright owner. In addition, the posting party grants ACMT and users of this site the nonexclusive right and license to display, copy, publish, distribute, transmit, print, and use such information or other material.
ACMT provides communication tools as a service for its members. ACMT is not responsible for opinions and information posted on this site or list. ACMT does monitor postings on this site or list, and if any inappropriate posting is brought to the attention of the ACMT, ACMT reserves the right to take appropriate action, including, without limitation, terminating access to any user who does not abide by these guidelines.
Limitations of Liability
To the extent allowed under law, ACMT (a) disclaim all implied warranties and representations (e.g. warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy of data, and noninfringement); (b) does not guarantee that the communications tools will function without interruption or errors, and (c) provide the communication tools (including content and information) on an “as is” and “as available” basis. To the extent permitted under law (and unless ACMT has entered into a separate written agreement that overrides this contract), ACMT shall not be liable to you or others for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of data, opportunities, reputation, profits, or revenues, related to the communications tools (e.g., offensive or defamatory statements, downtime or loss, use of, or changes to, your information or content). In no event shall the liability of ACMT exceed, in the aggregate for all claims, us $1000. This limitation of liability is part of the basis of the bargain between you and ACMT and shall apply to all claims of liability (e.g., warranty, tort, negligence, contract, law) and even if ACMT has been told of the possibility of any such damage, and even if these remedies fail their essential purpose.
YOU ACKNOWLEDGE THAT THE FORUM IS PROVIDED TO YOU ON AN "AS IS, WITH ALL FAULTS" BASIS. ACMT AND ITS LICENSORS EXPRESSLY DISCLAIM ANY AND ALL WARRANTIES, WHETHER EXPRESS, ORAL, IMPLIED, STATUTORY OR OTHERWISE, INCLUDING ANY IMPLIED WARRANTY OF FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, ANY IMPLIED WARRANTY OF MERCHANTABILITY, ANY WARRANTIES ARISING BY VIRTUE OF CUSTOM OF TRADE OR COURSE OF DEALING AND ANY IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF TITLE OR NON-INFRINGEMENT. SOME STATES DO NOT ALLOW EXCLUSIONS OF IMPLIED WARRANTIES, OR LIMITATIONS ON HOW LONG AN IMPLIED WARRANTY LASTS, SO THE ABOVE LIMITATIONS MAY NOT APPLY TO YOU. NONE OF ACMT NOR ANY OF ITS AFFILIATES SHALL BE LIABLE TO YOU OR ANY THIRD PARTY FOR ANY LOSS, DAMAGE, LIABILITY, COST OR EXPENSE SUFFERED OR INCURRED IN CONNECTION WITH THE USE OF OR PARTICIPATION IN THE FORUM OR ITS CONTENT NOR FOR ANY SPECIAL, INCIDENTAL OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES ARISING OUT OF THE USE OF OR INABILITY TO USE THE FORUM FOR ANY PURPOSE WHATSOEVER, EVEN IF ACMT OR ITS AFFILIATES HAVE BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.
